Step 1

Connect your inbox

How do I connect Gmail or Outlook?
Open FilsOnly and tap "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Microsoft" on the welcome screen. You'll be taken to your provider's real sign-in page — FilsOnly never sees your password, only a secure sign-in token.
Can I connect both Gmail and Outlook?
FilsOnly shows one inbox at a time. If you switch providers later (Settings → Disconnect), your previous provider's local data is cleared and you can connect the other one fresh.
Is my inbox stored anywhere?
No — FilsOnly doesn't run a backend that stores your inbox. Everything stays on your device. See our privacy policy for full details.
Step 2

Add your AI key

FilsOnly runs on your own AI provider key — Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT). You're billed directly by them, at cost, with no markup from FilsOnly. Here's how to get one, step by step.

Getting an API key
Anthropic (Claude)
  1. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign in or create an account
  2. Go to Settings → Billing, add a payment method (a small amount like $5 is enough to start — FilsOnly's usage is typically well under a dollar a month)
  3. Go to Settings → API Keys → Create Key
  4. Name it something like "filsonly" so you recognize it later
  5. Copy the key immediately — it's only shown once
  6. Paste it into FilsOnly's Settings → API Key field, tap Save
OpenAI
  1. Go to platform.openai.com and sign in or create an account
  2. Choose a plan when prompted — "Prototype" ($5 minimum) is enough for normal use
  3. Go to Settings → API Keys → Create new secret key
  4. Name it, then copy the key immediately — it's only shown once
  5. Paste it into FilsOnly's Settings → API Key field, tap Save
Is it safe to paste my key into the app?
Yes — it's stored securely on your device (not sent to FilsOnly's servers) and used only to talk directly to your chosen AI provider.
What does this actually cost me?
Typically a fraction of a subscription-based tool — around 0.8 fils a day for normal use, billed directly by your provider, not FilsOnly.
Step 3

It remembers what matters

How long does FilsOnly remember a thread?
Automatically, for 7 days — most follow-ups happen within a week.
What if I need to remember something older?
Tag the thread (the "Track" button, above the reply box, or from an email's options) to keep it remembered indefinitely, even after it's older than 7 days.
How do I untag something?
Go to the Closed tab and tap the "Tracked" pill on that message to remove it from tracking.
Step 4

Get nudged, not buried

How do nudges work?
FilsOnly checks periodically for threads that have gone quiet — where someone's waiting on your reply — and notifies you, even if the app is closed.
Why didn't I get a notification for something I expected?
A few common reasons: background sync may need to be turned on in Settings, the app needs a little time after install before its first real check runs, or (less commonly) the email may have landed in Spam/Junk on your provider's side rather than your main inbox — FilsOnly only sees what's in your Primary/Focused inbox.
Does this drain my battery?
Background checks are lightweight and infrequent — but if you'd rather not use this, you can turn Background Sync off in Settings any time.
